Mainfreight Air & Ocean is growing across South and Mid-Canterbury, and we’re looking for a people-focused Account Manager who enjoys building genuine relationships, uncovering opportunities, and helping customers move their products around the world.

As part of the Mainfreight Group, one of Australasia’s largest supply chain and logistics providers, our Air & Ocean division manages international freight forwarding. We move cargo globally by air and sea, handle customs and compliance, and work closely with our worldwide branches to deliver seamless end-to-end supply chain solutions. When customers trust us with their freight, they’re trusting us with their reputation and we take that seriously.

Based in Timaru and supported by our Christchurch Air & Ocean team, you’ll represent these services across your region, developing new business while strengthening relationships with existing customers.

What the Role Involves:

  • Prospecting intelligently for new business opportunities

  • Building long-term customer relationships

  • Meeting KPIs and sales targets with consistency and pride

  • Understanding customer supply chain needs and tailoring solutions

  • Working closely with our Christchurch operations team

  • Liaising with our global Mainfreight branches

  • Conducting regular call cycles across South and Mid-Canterbury

  • Travelling to Christchurch at least once a month

You’ll be the face of Mainfreight Air & Ocean in your territory, someone customers know they can rely on.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven sales experience and a track record of achieving results

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Attention to detail and excellent time management

  • Ability to prioritise, problem-solve and multi-task

  • A positive, team-focused attitude

  • Hunger to win new business and the resilience to pursue opportunities

  • Experience in international freight forwarding is advantageous, but not essential

Why Mainfreight Air & Ocean

Our philosophy is long-term. We invest in our people, promote from within, and encourage everyone to take ownership of their role. You’ll be surrounded by down-to-earth, hardworking people who take pride in doing things properly and doing them with heart.

You’ll join a global supply chain logistics team that moves cargo across the world by air and sea, supported by a business that believes in you from day one.

Requirements:

  • New Zealand Residency

  • Full New Zealand Driver’s Licence

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check

  • Agreement to our Drug & Alcohol policy
