This is a senior leadership appointment within a community-based addiction treatment service. Acting as second in charge, the role supports the Service Director and wider leadership group to deliver safe, effective and culturally responsive services for tangata whai ora and whānau.

The position has a strong clinical operations focus, including oversight of professional service delivery, clinical leadership, workforce development, intake processes, quality improvement and contract performance.

About the Role

  • Provide operational and clinical leadership across addiction treatment services
  • Support and guide the Clinical Team Leader and intake team
  • Ensure assessments, admissions, documentation and outcome measures meet service expectations
  • Lead workforce development planning, training and professional capability building
  • Support best-practice addiction, mental health and peer support approaches
  • Contribute to service planning, quality improvement and internal audit processes
  • Maintain effective relationships with referrers, providers, stakeholders, tangata whai ora and whānau
  • Support culturally responsive practice, including commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
  • Provide operational clinical decision-making support in complex or dynamic situations

What you'll bring

  • A recognised degree and full professional registration in Addictions or a related discipline such as Nursing, Social Work, Counselling or Psychology.
  • At least five years' post-registration experience.
  • A minimum of three years' leadership experience within residential and/or community alcohol and other drug services.
  • Strong people leadership skills with proven Human Resources experience.
  • Strong knowledge of addiction treatment, co-existing mental health needs and clinical risk
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A calm, approachable leadership style with the ability to build trust and confidence with both staff and residents.
  • Experience working within the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and building meaningful relationships with Mana Whenua and community networks.
  • Strong contract management, reporting and administrative skills, with the ability to deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Experience facilitating groups and undertaking case management within the addiction sector.
  • A full New Zealand driver's licence (pool vehicle available for work-related travel).
  • What's on offer
  • Salary: $113,000-$130,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Full-time permanent role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, plus participation in an on-call roster.
  • 5 weeks leave
