Lead Physiotherapist / Team Manager - MSK Service
Habit Health is looking for an experienced Lead Physiotherapist to step into a hybrid Lead Physiotherapist / Team Manager role, combining two days of clinical musculoskeletal physiotherapy with three days of leadership across our Wellington MSK service.
This is the perfect opportunity for someone ready to take the next step in their career, expanding their leadership responsibilities while continuing to deliver the clinical care they're passionate about. You'll mentor and develop clinicians, influence the quality and direction of our MSK service, and still maintain your own clinical expertise by treating clients each week. You'll play a key role in building a high-performing, engaged team while helping people across the Wellington region achieve exceptional rehabilitation outcomes.
The role
As the Lead Physiotherapist / Team Manager, you'll spend up to two days each week delivering musculoskeletal physiotherapy services and the remaining time leading and supporting Physiotherapists and Hand Therapists across the Wellington region. Working closely with the Regional Manager, you'll help shape a high-performing team by providing clinical leadership, mentoring clinicians, monitoring service performance, and ensuring clients receive exceptional rehabilitation outcomes. Your continued clinical practice will enable you to lead from the front, sharing expertise and championing evidence-based care.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality musculoskeletal physiotherapy services for approximately two days each week
- Lead, coach, and support physiotherapists and hand therapists across the Wellington region
- Foster a positive, engaged, and high-performing team culture
- Drive service performance and delivery within ACC contracts
- Support workforce planning and day-to-day operational requirements
- Mentor clinicians and encourage ongoing professional development
- Promote evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement
- Ensure high standards of clinical quality, documentation, and client care
- Work collaboratively with the Regional Manager to achieve operational and strategic goals
About you
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced physiotherapist who enjoys developing others and wants to broaden their leadership responsibilities without giving up clinical practice. You may currently be working as a Lead Physiotherapist, Senior Physiotherapist, Clinical Lead, or Practice Lead and are looking for your next career move. The successful candidate will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Registration with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and a current APC
- Extensive experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy
- Strong knowledge of the ACC rehabilitation environment
- Previous leadership, mentoring, or people management experience
- Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills
- A collaborative leadership style and passion for supporting clinician development
Why join Habit Health?
- Grow your leadership career while being supported by experienced regional leaders
- Enjoy variety, with every week combining client care, leadership, quality improvement, and team development
- Registration fees and APC costs covered plus an annual professional development budget
- Supportive team culture with regular social events, weekly treats, and recognition programme
- Wellbeing initiatives including annual eye exams, flu vaccinations, and access to EAP services
- Access to Heidi AI to reduce administration and maximise time with clients and your team
