Vendor & Commercial Adviser | Kaitohutohu Arumoni me ngā Kaihoko
Te tīma | The team
Parliament IT is focused on setting a new standard for exceptional, customer-centred IT service delivery in the unique environment of New Zealand’s Parliament. The team works across people, products and services to make it easier to work digitally, while maintaining the security, reliability and sustainability needed to support Members of Parliament, Parliamentary agencies, stakeholders and the public.
Mō te tūnga | About the role
As Vendor & Commercial Advisor, you will provide specialist commercial and vendor-management advice to support effective planning, performance and value-for-money outcomes across Parliament IT. You will support the development and management of vendor and commercial arrangements, including contracts, renewals and performance monitoring, ensuring these align with organisational priorities and procurement guidance.
This is not a procurement role. Instead, you will work closely with Service Managers, Product Owners, Finance and Procurement teams to ensure commercial considerations are embedded into IT planning, roadmaps and investment decisions. You will bring clear analysis, practical insights and sound advice on vendor performance, commercial risks and opportunities for improvement, helping strengthen commercial governance and support collaborative, customer-centred outcomes.
Tō kete | What you will bring to the role
- Provide specialist commercial and vendor-management advice in a large, complex environment.
- Manage and support vendor arrangements, contracts, renewals and performance monitoring.
- Translate commercial, contract and supplier performance information into clear, decision-ready advice.
- Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, suppliers and managed service partners.
- Support transparent commercial governance, reporting and visibility of spend, commitments and obligations.
- Contribute to planning, roadmaps and investment decisions with a strong focus on value, risk and service quality.
- Ability to obtain NZSIS Top Secret security clearance.
(If you meet most, but not all, of the criteria, we still encourage you to apply.)
Ka riro i a koe | What you’ll gain
You will provide specialist commercial and vendor management expertise within a complex environment, ensuring supplier relationships and commercial arrangements deliver strong outcomes for Parliament. The role is responsible for managing and supporting vendor contracts, renewals, performance monitoring and ongoing commercial engagements, while translating contract, financial and supplier performance information into clear, decision-ready advice for leaders and stakeholders. You will build trusted relationships across internal teams, vendors, suppliers and managed service partners, fostering collaboration and accountability. Working closely with key stakeholders, you will support transparent commercial governance through effective reporting and visibility of spend, commitments and contractual obligations. You will also contribute to strategic planning, technology roadmaps and investment decisions, bringing a strong focus on value for money, risk management and the delivery of high-quality services.
