Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
As a Student Advisor (Postgraduate) in the Division of Health, you’ll ensure the provision of a high quality, student focused, coordinated, effective and efficient student administration, enrolment, and selection processes within the Division.
This specific focus of this role will be to provide specialist postgraduate academic advise, support decision-making on graduate pathways, manage postgraduate student pathway planning and oversee stakeholder engagement.
The role ensures that systems, policies, and services are student-centred, culturally responsive, and aligned with the University of Waikato’s commitment to excellence, equity, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Working closely with the Senior Student Advisors, academic staff, and the central Student Services teams, the position supports the full student lifecycle—from enquiry and application through to selection, enrolment, progression, and completion. It plays a key role in enhancing student experience by ensuring that administrative processes are efficient, transparent, and inclusive.
This role also contributes to student engagement and wellbeing initiatives, fostering a safe and supportive environment where students feel valued and empowered to succeed.
Salary will be in the range of $73,235 to $87,024 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based on our Hillcrest Campus.

You possess significant experience in an administration support or customer-focused role, and a knack at building connections and maintaining key relationships. You pride yourself on your high level of independence to carry out delegated tasks. You are an excellent communicator (listening, writing and oral), with robust organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
You are known for your outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to relate to a wide range of people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. You further possess the ability to quickly understand and follow procedures and assimilate new information. You take responsibility and show initiative and have the ability to respond proactively to a variety of situations.
