Make a difference to Heritage
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the protection and conservation of New Zealand’s historic heritage?
At Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga (HNZPT) we identify, conserve and promote the important heritage places and cultural landscapes in Aotearoa New Zealand, and we strive to ensure our country’s bicultural and other histories are accessible for all New Zealanders. Within this role you will administer the archaeological provisions of the Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga Act (HNZPTA) 2014 and the opportunity to raise awareness and understanding of archaeology in New Zealand.
HNZPT welcomes applications from people with knowledge and experience of the statutory archaeological processes under the HNZPTA 2014 and other legislative processes, along with skills and competence in archaeological assessment and investigation and reporting. Experience in the direction or management of archaeological works would be an advantage. This role will also deliver archaeological services for applications and compliance under Fast-Track Approvals processes, so adaptability and proven ability to deliver work within rapid timeframes is essential.
You will work as part of a supportive, friendly local team of heritage professionals, and with other professional colleagues in our nationwide offices. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be required to effectively communicate expert archaeological advice to both internal and external stakeholders including archaeological consultants, property owners, local authorities, developers and whānau/hapū/iwi and professionals in other fields.
This role is to be based in our central Dunedin office.
A Master of Arts in Archaeology (or equivalent) and experience in New Zealand archaeology is essential.
The salary range for this position is $71,291 - $83,872
