KAIHAUTŪ | CHIEF EXECUTIVE
Tapuwae Roa – Wellington

Tapuwae Roa is a kaupapa Māori charitable trust established under the Māori Fisheries Act 2004, stewarding settlement funds to advance Māori education, training, and research.
Guided by Whāngaitia matua te tuakiri Māori, the Trust is evolving from funder to impact agent—mobilising pūtea, partnerships, and innovation to deliver outcomes for Māori communities.
With the current strategy nearing completion, this is a pivotal opportunity to lead delivery now and shape the next strategic horizon.

  • Steward investment and strengthen the position Tapuwae Roa holds in Māori philanthropy and impact investment
  • Build enduring relationships across iwi, whānau, hapū, urban Māori and Māori communities across the motu
  • Develop and evolve funding partnerships to allow for delivery of programmes and initiatives
  • Lead community engagement that is relational, reciprocal and intergenerational
  • Position the Trust for future opportunities, including potential impact investment initiatives
You will lead an organisation with clear ambition, balancing impact, capability and capacity to deliver sustainable outcomes.

HE KŌRERO MŌU

You are a credible, values-led leader with strong judgement and the ability to operate across diverse Māori contexts.

You will bring:
  • Senior leadership experience in kaupapa Māori or complex stakeholder environments
  • Proven ability to deliver strategy and organisational performance
  • Strength in stakeholder engagement, including iwi, urban Māori and Māori communities
  • Experience building partnerships and influencing across sectors
  • Financial and commercial acumen, including exposure to investment or impact approaches
  • Experience in securing funding and delivering work programmes
