
Maintenance Technician - Painting & Drywall

Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician – Painting & Drywall is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the visual condition of residential and commercial properties through high-quality painting, drywall repair, and finishing work. This role plays a critical part in unit turns, preventative maintenance, and overall building presentation, ensuring all spaces meet company standards for quality, safety, and appearance.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on expertise in painting and drywall, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting broader maintenance operations as required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead all interior and exterior painting projects, including surface preparation, priming, finishing, and touch-ups across residential and commercial units
- Perform drywall repairs and finishing, including patching, taping, mudding, sanding, and blending to achieve a paint‑ready standard
- Ensure all surfaces are properly prepared (filling, sanding, caulking, sealing) to deliver clean, consistent, high-quality finishes
- Complete unit turns and refreshes efficiently, ensuring suites are ready on schedule and meet company quality standards
- Conduct preventative painting and touch-ups in common areas and high‑traffic spaces to maintain overall building appearance
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, including work completed, materials used, and time tracking
- Support general maintenance tasks as required in collaboration with the broader maintenance team
- Order, track, and manage painting and drywall materials, ensuring proper inventory levels and cost control
- Follow all health and safety procedures, ensuring work is completed safely with minimal disruption to residents and tenants
- Coordinate with the Property Manager and maintenance leadership to prioritize workload, timelines, and unit readiness
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Proven experience in professional painting (residential and/or commercial environments)
- Strong hands-on expertise in drywall repair, taping, mudding, sanding, and finishing
- Demonstrated ability to deliver clean, high-quality finishes with strong attention to detail
- Experience with residential unit turns and turnover work considered an asset
- Ability to work independently while managing time and priorities effectively
- Professional, respectful, and calm demeanor when interacting with residents, tenants, and internal team members
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the role, including standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive tasks
