Start Well Senior Social Worker

Turuki Health Care is a kaupapa Māori organisation delivering integrated health, wellbeing and social services across the Tāmaki Makaurau region. We provide quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare and support to whānau.


Te whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our Start Well team, working within a dynamic and passionate multidisciplinary environment supporting young families. The ideal candidate will bring five or more years of professional experience and expertise in working with complex social issues, including child protection, family violence and behaviours associated with toxic stressors.

Start Well supports hapū māmā, fathers and their whānau through long-term, relationship-based care - journeying alongside them to understand what matters most, co-create plans, and provide intensive home visiting and community support. This role focuses on strengthening whānau capability, nurturing autonomy, and fostering environments where rangatahi and whānau can thrive.

We are looking for someone with passion, enthusiasm, and drive – someone who is calm, resilient, insightful and comfortable working in challenging spaces. You will play a key role in enriching whānau aspirations and transforming lives through the strength of your professional relationships and practice.


Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako – Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone who can lead with integrity, empathy and clarity and who brings:

  • A recognised qualification in Social Work
  • Full Social Worker Registration with the SWRB
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in Social Work
  • Strong experience working with complex whānau, including child protection and family violence
  • Ability to build trusted, sustained relationships with whānau in challenging environments
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • A full NZ drivers’ licence
  • Permanent NZ residency
  • Clean NZ criminal record
