Who We Are

Mitre 10 has been a trusted name in New Zealand homes since 1974. Proudly Kiwi-owned, we combine the strength of a national brand with the values of a community-focused business.

Mitre 10 MEGA Albany is part of Riviera Hardware Holdings Ltd, the largest group within the Mitre 10 network. Conveniently located with easy motorway access, our Albany store serves trade and DIY customers from across Auckland. Home to one of Mitre 10's busiest Trade operations, our team supports a wide range of builders, contractors, and serious DIY customers every day. Our team reflects the diverse community we support, and we pride ourselves on creating an environment where customers receive knowledgeable advice and team members have opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute.

Our Timber & Building department sits at the heart of our Trade operation — supporting builders, contractors, and serious DIY customers who rely on us every day for quality products, efficient service, and practical advice. This isn't just another retail role. It's a hands-on position in a business where teamwork matters, effort is recognised, and no two days are quite the same.

About the Role

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available within our Timber & Building (Trade) department, working at the Trade Counter. This position works 40 hours per week across four 10-hour days, including every Saturday and three additional rostered weekdays.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role supporting customers from enquiry through to order fulfilment. You'll work in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, an eye for detail and teamwork matter.

This is a physically active role in a busy department involving some manual handling of timber, building materials, and trade products. Team members must be comfortable safely undertaking the physical requirements of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing orders and transactions accurately at the trade counter
  • Stock replenishment and maintaining merchandising standards
  • Coordinating pick-ups and deliveries with the yard team
  • Assisting trade and retail customers with timber and building materials
  • Keeping the counter and yard tidy, organised, and professional
  • Picking, packing, and preparing trade orders in the timber yard

What You'll Bring

  • Previous experience in timber, building supplies, hardware retail, or a trade-related environment preferred
  • Sound knowledge of timber and building products, gained through trade, construction, DIY, or hardware experience preferred
  • Strong numerical skills and confidence working with measurements, quantities, and product calculations required
  • Confidence working across both a trade counter and timber yard
  • Clear, practical communication skills
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Availability to work a permanent 40-hour roster, including Sundays

What's in it for You

Everyday Benefits

  • Generous staff purchase scheme at selected Mitre 10 and Columbus Coffee locations (eligibility applies)
  • Discounted food and drinks at our in-store Columbus Coffee Café (eligibility applies)
  • Everyday savings on shopping, travel, dining and more through our perks app

Growth & Development

  • Opportunity to build skills across multiple departments
  • Internal movement opportunities within the store and wider Riviera group
