About the Company
Our client is a Private Equity backed healthcare services organisation operating across Australasia. They're mid transformation, modernising their data infrastructure and moving to a modern cloud based data platform to better support their operations.
About the Role
Reporting to the Data Technical Lead, this hands-on role owns the day to day health of the organisation's ETL/ELT pipelines across legacy and modern cloud data platforms. You'll work alongside data analysts and engineers, keeping data flowing accurately and on time while improving reliability, performance, and visibility across the platform.
Benefits
Salary up to $150,000 NZD. Hybrid working in their Auckland office.
You'll join a collaborative data team and play a hands on role shaping the operational backbone of a next generation data platform, with genuine visibility into how the business uses its data. There's also scope to get involved in AI powered solutions, copilots, and automation as the business expands its use of Microsoft AI technologies.
Duties / Key Responsibilities
- Monitor ETL/ELT pipeline health across the organisation's cloud data platforms, triaging and resolving failures and data quality issues
- Identify recurring failure points and performance bottlenecks, then design improvements to make pipelines more robust and cost efficient
- Build and maintain proactive alerting and notification frameworks to surface pipeline failures and anomalies early
- Improve visibility of data flow through the platform, including dependencies, run schedules, and lineage
- Maintain clear documentation of data flows, pipelines, schedules, and operational runbooks
- Strong, demonstrable SQL skills, with the ability to write and troubleshoot complex, optimised queries
- Practical experience operating and troubleshooting data pipelines, ideally in a Microsoft cloud data environment (Fabric and/or Azure Data Factory)
- Working knowledge of PySpark for data processing and transformation
- Experience with, or solid understanding of, modern data lakehouse and Medallion architecture principles
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting approaches for data pipelines
- Genuine commitment to documentation, runbooks, and data lineage
- Understanding of how data feeds downstream BI datasets and reports
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a calm, methodical approach under pressure
- Nice to have: experience with AI copilots or automation platforms in a Microsoft environment; RAG implementation experience; exposure to DataOps/DevOps practices; experience in a regulated or healthcare environment
