Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced banking leader to step into a senior people leadership role, leading a team of Relationship Partners who support a diverse portfolio of businesses across the Waikato region.

What does a day in the life of a Senior Partner look like?

  • Work closely with the Head of Commercial, Agri & Business to develop and implement annual business plans and market strategies that support growth, strengthen BNZ’s presence in market, and drive strong outcomes for our customers.

  • Lead coach and support a team, ensuring they have clarity around priorities, expectations and what great performance looks like. Through regular, constructive performance conversations, you’ll lift capability, encourage accountability and support Partners to achieve their goals.

  • Encourage knowledge sharing, best practice and collaboration across the Partnership and Regional Teams. You will play an important role in connecting people, sharing experience and creating momentum across the wider team.

  • Maintain the credit quality of the team’s lending book, including assessing lending proposals, analysing financial information and working in consultation with Credit to agree appropriate lending solutions.

What attributes will this person have in order to be successful?

We are looking for a confident, proactive people leader who can bring the best out of their team. You’ll be a strong communicator and natural coach, with the ability to create clarity, build capability and support strong performance.

You’ll bring strong commercial acumen, sound credit capability and a good understanding of financial products and services. Experience in commercial, business and/or agribusiness banking would be highly valued, along with a proven track record of leading customer-facing teams.

What will success look like for the candidate in this role?

Success will be seen in an engaged and high-performing team that is growing quality business and strengthening BNZ’s presence across the Waikato market.

You’ll play a key role in creating the conditions for your team to succeed, while supporting sustainable growth and strong customer outcomes.

What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?

The most exciting thing about this opportunity is the ability to shape the performance, culture and market presence of a highly capable regional team. You will have the opportunity to lead experienced bankers, influence strategic priorities, support the growth of BNZ’s footprint across the Waikato, and help make a meaningful difference to our customers and local communities.
