Advisor Publishing - National Office, Wellington Te haeata/The opportunity
We are looking for a digitally capable Advisor Publishing with a legal background to join our publishing team, who play a key role in improving access to justice. Our team is focussed on the accurate, timely and legally safe publication of judicial decisions ensuring published decisions comply with suppression and privacy laws. You will be an integral part of the wider Judicial Libraries team, interacting regularly with the judiciary, Ministry and courts staff, the legal profession and the public.
In this role, you will review, anonymise, peer review and publish judicial decisions, ensuring compliance with suppression orders, statutory publication restrictions and privacy obligations. You will also respond to user enquiries and case requests relating to Judicial Decisions Online (JDO), while helping to manage publication workflows across a range of digital platforms and systems. As part of the wider Judicial Libraries team, you will work closely with the judiciary, Ministry and court staff, the legal profession and the public. Ō pūkenga/Skills and experience
To succeed in this role, you will bring a legal qualification and the ability to understand and apply legal principles, including legislative requirements relating to judgment publication and suppression. You will have strong attention to detail, sound organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
You will be a confident communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to learn new systems, processes, and technologies. An understanding of Te Ao Māori, Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga, together with resilience and professionalism when working with sensitive case material, will also be important.
