Are you a strategic communicator with a passion for connecting people, shaping messages, and making an impact in your community?


We’re looking for a Communications Manager to lead our communications function and ensure clear, consistent, and engaging communication between Council, our community, and our staff.


In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading and delivering Council’s internal and external communications, media engagement, and public information. You’ll help tell our story, promote our work, and support positive relationships across the district.


Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Council’s communications strategy and plans
  • Lead proactive media, brand, and public relations activities
  • Manage digital and print communication channels, including social media and the Council website
  • Provide expert advice to Council staff and elected members on communication and engagement matters
  • Coordinate responses to media enquiries and public information requests
  • Oversee internal communication initiatives that keep staff informed and connected

About you

You’ll be an experienced communications professional who can balance strategy with hands-on delivery. You’ll bring creativity, sound judgement, and excellent writing and relationship skills. You’ll also have:

  • A degree in Communications or related area/significant equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in communications, PR, or media management
  • Strong writing and editing skills across a range of formats
  • Experience managing social media, digital content, and media relationships
  • The ability to communicate complex information clearly and confidently
  • Proven people management skills
