Are you a seasoned employment relations expert looking for a new challenge where your expertise directly supports national security?
The New Zealand Intelligence Community (NZIC) is looking for a Senior Legal Advisor – Employment Relations to provide specialist ER advice and representation to both the GCSB and NZSIS.
This isn’t your standard ER role; it’s a chance to join a small, supportive team and tackle interesting work that is exclusive to the NZIC. In this unique position, you will provide guidance on a diverse range of employment issues and help promote a positive employment relations culture.
The Role
As a key specialist within People and Capability, you will be a go-to expert for complex employment matters. You won't just be managing cases; you will be supporting the employment relations strategy that enables our agencies to meet their critical missions.
Key areas of responsibility include supporting: * Collective bargaining * Employment investigations * Dispute resolution/mediation * Providing legal opinions and advice * ER policy development and review * Union engagement About You
You are a highly skilled ER professional with a practising certificate or the ability to obtain one, preferably in the public sector, along with: * Proven mediation experience (essential) and bargaining experience (desirable) * A working knowledge of employment related legislation and case law * Excellent verbal and written communications skills and sharp attention to detail * The ability to multitask in a high-tempo environment * A great sense of humour, the right attitude, and alignment with Our Behaviours This is an exciting opportunity to build on your existing experience while developing new skills across some unique issues.

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.
You must: * Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years * Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance * Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
