Role Title: Drainage Operator

We’re looking for a Drainage Operator to join our Drainage team in Central Otago. You’ll assist with installing drainage systems, support trenching and pipe laying, and keep sites running efficiently, helping us deliver high-quality infrastructure and keep essential water systems flowing across the region.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

You’ll be working as a hands-on, labourer in a fast-paced, outdoor environment across a range of drainage sites in Central Otago. This role is all about supporting the team on the ground—helping install essential drainage infrastructure and keeping projects moving safely and efficiently. Your work plays a key part in delivering reliable water systems and infrastructure that communities rely on every day.

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities

  • Support the installation and maintenance of drainage systems on site

  • Operate hand tools and assist with machinery where required

  • Prepare trenches, lay pipes, and complete backfilling tasks

  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised worksite

  • Work closely with your team to keep jobs running safely and on track

  • Follow instructions from supervisors to deliver quality work on time

  • Full Class 1 Driver Licence (required)

  • Class 4 licence and WTR endorsements (required)

  • Experience in drainage or similar hands-on outdoor work is an advantage

  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual labour in all weather conditions

  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices on site

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team

  • Willingness to learn and take direction on the job
