Excavator Operator – Whitianga
ExtraStaff is currently seeking experienced Excavator Operators for an ongoing civil construction project based in Whitianga. We are working with a reputable civil contractor delivering ongoing earthworks and infrastructure works in the region. This is a great opportunity for skilled operators looking for consistent work on a long-term project.
About the Role
You will be operating excavators on a live civil site, supporting a range of earthworks activities including:
- Bulk earthworks and site preparation
- Trenching and drainage work
- Loading trucks and moving materials around site
- Final trim / detailed excavation (where skilled)
- Supporting roading and infrastructure works
- Daily machine checks and basic maintenance
- Working closely with civil crews to meet project deadlines
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience operating excavators (essential)
- Strong civil construction or earthworks background
- Confident operating in a busy site environment
- Strong health & safety awareness
- Reliable, hardworking, and physically fit
- Ability to work independently and within a team
Requirements
- Full Class 1 Driver Licence
- WTR Endorsements preferred
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test
- Legal right to work in New Zealand
- Site Safe or ConstructSafe (preferred but not essential)
- Own reliable transport
