Product Specialist
Product Specialist – Power Systems & SCADA
Hamilton / Christchurch Based | Highly specialised technical role
This is not a traditional sales role. It’s an opportunity for a technically credible power systems specialist who can talk confidently with engineers, solve complex problems and recommend solutions that genuinely deliver.
Our client is seeking a Product Specialist with strong knowledge of RTU, SCADA and power data acquisition technologies. You’ll become a trusted technical adviser to lines companies, consultants and engineering teams, supporting customers from initial solution design through to configuration, implementation and ongoing support.
The Role
You will:
- Lead the technical side of the sales process
- Understand customer requirements and recommend fit-for-purpose solutions
- Provide expert support for SCADA, RTU, gateway and data acquisition products
- Identify configuration issues and advise on improvements or additional products
- Deliver technical presentations, demonstrations and product training
- Support consultants to specify best-in-class solutions
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and technical partners
- Keep ahead of emerging products, features and industry developments
What You’ll Bring
You’ll have strong practical knowledge across several of the following:
- Real-time systems within the power sector
- SCADA, ADMS, DMS, OMS or IMS platforms
- RTUs, PLCs, gateways and data acquisition systems
- IEC 61850, DNP3, GOOSE and ICCP protocols
- Device configuration and commissioning
- IP network infrastructure and cybersecurity principles
- Monitoring, data logging and communications technologies
You may come from a lines company, power utility, automation or industrial electrical background. You could be an Electrical Engineer, Automation Electrician, SCADA Specialist or an experienced technical professional who has built their expertise through years of hands-on work.
Formal qualifications are welcomed, but extensive real-world experience and genuine technical credibility will carry just as much weight.
What’s on Offer
- Competitive salary with great benefits plus annual profit-share scheme
- Southern Cross medical insurance; trauma-event cover; Life cover of twice your annual salary
- Flexible, hybrid working arrangements
- Vehicle available if required
- Product training and support for continued education
- Relocation assistance available for the right candidate
If you understand complex power systems, enjoy solving technical challenges and can build credibility with engineers, this is a rare opportunity to turn your specialist knowledge into real customer impact.
