Apprentice Beekeeper - Wairarapa

Build Your Future in Beekeeping

Looking for a hands-on career with purpose?

Join Comvita's Wairarapa Apiary team as an Apprentice Beekeeper and gain practical experience while completing a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification.

As an Apprentice Beekeeper, you'll learn from experienced industry professionals while working toward the New Zealand Certificate in Apiculture (Level 3). The credits you earn from this program qualify towards NZQA. This programme provides the skills and knowledge needed to work safely, effectively, and productively in New Zealand's commercial beekeeping industry.

  • Supporting honey harvesting operations
  • Learning about hive health and bee behaviour
  • Assisting with hive transportation and placement
  • Identifying and managing diseases and pests
  • Contributing to a high-performing team focused on quality and sustainability

*You must be willing to undergo pre-employment drug & alcohol testing, then if successful ongoing random testing*

About You

You don’t need previous experience in Beekeeping, so we're looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about learning new skills
  • Enjoys working outdoors in all conditions
  • Is reliable, motivated and safety conscious
  • Can work collaboratively within a team
  • Has a Full New Zealand Driver Licence
  • Is physically able to perform lifting and outdoor duties
  • Is interested in agriculture, horticulture, or the primary industries sector

Why Join Comvita?

At Comvita, we believe in the power of nature and the wisdom of bees. You'll become part of a team that is passionate about sustainability, wellbeing, and producing world-class natural products.

In return, you'll receive:

  • Structured apprenticeship training
  • National qualification support
  • Practical on-the-job learning
  • Mentoring from experienced beekeepers
  • Career development opportunities across our apiary network
  • A chance to work in one of New Zealand's most unique and rewarding industries
