Senior BI Developer (m/f/d) - Microsoft Fabric & Power BI

Build business-critical data products that turn trusted data into better decisions and action.

Using Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and Azure, you will create lakehouses, semantic models, reports and AI-driven data products. These can include automated workflows, bots, copilots and agents.

You use AI-native delivery methods as a professional standard. This includes current LLMs, automation and agent platforms where they improve the product or solve a real client problem.

We are hiring a Senior BI Developer to expand capacity across established long-term client work. You bring technical depth, ownership and the ability to discuss your own technical topics directly with clients.

Tasks

The role

You build, test, document and maintain data products. This includes data models, lakehouses, data warehouses, pipelines, notebooks and Power BI reports.

You report to a Tech Lead and work closely with project leads, other developers and client teams. You clarify the technical detail and estimate the effort before delivery starts. You show what you built and explain your decisions clearly.

Project leadership, commercial ownership and people management remain with the project lead. Your mandate is senior technical delivery, direct technical client communication and reliable execution.

You work within MultiBase's DECIDE delivery framework: Discover, Engage, Clarify, Illustrate, Develop and Embed. You receive structured onboarding into the client context, delivery standards and framework.

What you will do

• Build and maintain BI and data products in Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and Azure.
• Deliver lakehouse, warehouse, pipeline, notebook, SQL object and reporting components.
• Develop Power BI semantic models, reports and DAX calculations.
• Translate defined business needs into clear technical stories and delivery steps.
• Discuss your own technical topics directly with client IT and business stakeholders.
• Work in structured agile delivery. Estimate work, manage your stories and deliver against sprint commitments.
• Use AI tools systematically to improve your development, analysis, documentation and quality assurance workflows.
• Design and develop AI-driven data products that connect trusted client data, LLMs and defined business workflows.
• Identify and prototype practical use cases for automations, bots, copilots and agents within client data environments.
• Turn proven AI prototypes into secure, documented and maintainable data products.
• Test, document and deploy production-ready data products.
• Use version control and collaborative delivery practices, ideally Git and Azure DevOps.
• Raise delivery risks, data issues and unclear requirements early with the Tech Lead and project lead.
• Identify concrete improvement opportunities in client data landscapes.Contribute reusable documentation and practical knowledge to MultiBase's internal knowledge base.

You are technical first. You also communicate comfortably with a client's controller, data architect or business lead.

You ask clear questions before you build. You explain trade-offs directly. You take responsibility for your work and communicate early when an issue needs attention.

You look beyond dashboards and reports. You recognize when a trusted data product, automated workflow or AI-driven bot, copilot or agent is the right way to create insight or improve a client process.

You enjoy a role with real ownership, direct client exposure and a high standard of delivery.

Essential experience

• At least four years of BI or data-platform development experience, including direct work with client or business stakeholders.
• Strong Azure data-platform experience, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory or Synapse.
• Practical experience with lakehouse and data warehouse concepts, data pipelines and notebooks.
• Professional Power BI capability, including semantic modeling, DAX and report development.
• Strong SQL and dimensional data-modeling skills, including star-schema design and ETL/ELT patterns.
• Experience delivering in agile teams using structured stories, estimates and sprint commitments.
• Experience using Git and a collaborative development workflow. Azure DevOps is an advantage.
• Experience testing, deploying and maintaining production data products.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Daily, thoughtful use of AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, Codex or equivalent. You verify outputs and remain accountable for quality.

Strong advantages

• Hands-on experience designing, building or deploying AI-driven data products, bots, copilots or agents for real business use cases.
• Experience with current LLMs and small language models, including practical decisions about model choice, cost, latency, privacy and quality.
• Experience with LLM APIs, agent orchestration or automation platforms such as OpenClaw, Claude Code or Cowork, Hermes, n8n, Make or comparable tools.
• Experience turning LLM, SLM or agent prototypes into secure and maintainable data products.
• Databricks experience, especially for data engineering, lakehouse and notebook-based work.
• Python or PySpark for data engineering, automation or notebook workflows.
• German at B2 level or above for DACH client communication.
• Experience delivering in a client-facing project environment.
• A habit of actively sharing knowledge with teammates and contributing to the growth of company expertise.
• An active interest in market and technology developments, which you bring back to the team rather than keep to yourself.

• Remote-first across CET/CEST or SAST-aligned time zones.
• Core collaboration hours are 10:00 to 16:00 CET/CEST.
• Occasional client visits are part of the role, normally several times per year and no more than once a quarter.
• Developers based outside Germany attend working sessions at the MultiBase headquarters in Gilching at least twice a year.

After three months

• You understand your client team, their processes and their data landscape.
• You contribute billable work within the agreed delivery plan.
• Your data products are tested, documented and ready for production use.
• You use MultiBase delivery standards and AI-native working practices consistently.
• You have identified at least one practical AI-driven data-product opportunity for further evaluation.

After six months

• Client stakeholders trust you with defined technical questions and delivery topics.
• Your work meets agreed quality standards and peer review requires only minor refinements.
• You have contributed at least one useful SOP or knowledge-base entry.
• You have identified at least one concrete improvement opportunity in a client data landscape and discussed it with your Tech Lead and project lead.
• You have contributed to an AI-driven data product, automation, bot or agent where a defined client use case exists.
