About the Role

Be at the forefront of connecting whaiora and whānau with the mental health support they need. As an Intake Coordinator, you will provide specialist triage and assessment, offer clinical advice, and coordinate pathways into appropriate services. Working closely with referrers, health partners, primary care, and community agencies, your clinical judgement will help ensure timely, responsive care and smooth transitions throughout the care journey.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Acute Care Team provides responsive and culturally inclusive specialist Mental Health and Addictions Services across the Bay of Plenty. You will work alongside experienced Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and other mental health professionals in a collaborative team committed to supporting whaiora and whānau through periods of acute mental health need.

About You

You are an experienced mental health clinician who brings sound judgement, confidence, and compassion to complex situations. A natural communicator, you build trust quickly, think clearly under pressure, and value working in partnership with whaiora, whānau, colleagues, and community providers.

What you will bring:

  • Current registration and Annual Practicing Certificate as an appropriate Registered Health Professional
  • A minimum of three years’ post-registration mental health experience (ideal)
  • Strong knowledge of mental health conditions and therapeutic approaches
  • Sound understanding of the Mental Health Act
  • Experience in mental health triage, assessment, and care coordination
  • Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships across health, primary care, and community services
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, recovery-focused care and partnership with whaiora and whānau
